Cannabis: Diagnosing THC exposure in Dogs

Coupled with the increasing availability of marijuana and products containing THC, veterinary emergency rooms are seeing more and more dogs presenting with signs of toxicosis associated with their ingestion of these products. Historically, many emergency clinicians have relied upon the urine drug screening tests designed for human THC exposure to try and diagnose these animals. Dr. Joel Weltman, a veterinary emergency and critical care specialist, has recently done some work looking at the efficacy of 2 urine drug screening tests for diagnosing THC exposure in clinical canine cases.
